A great 8 part small documentary well worth a watch it has some lovely stories that are so important to share and a great coming together of communities. Here is the link to part 1 then do a search to find the others on SBS on Demand.
From the notorious Brownlie Towers public housing estate comes a new beginning for the residents – a community garden. The estate was originally hailed as a triumph of innovative design and community housing when it was built in the 1970s, but the project failed and the Towers became known throughout Perth as the ‘suicide towers’. We learn about the genesis of the Bentley Community Garden and see the site as it was in the beginning – an empty lot. Visit www.facebook.com/SBSHarvest
Here are some images on what turned out to be a great day! Discussions of sustainable movements and local food! What a great place to host this event with the local children and families being able to take part in all the activities. The gardens had a great day showcasing what we have to offer as well as connecting with some great local groups.
A big thanks to Costa for taking the time to come down to the Wagga Demo Gardens and share a cuppa and a chat!
